Help with Long Hop Cricket for iPhone
Getting started
How do I play?
Start a new club, give it a name and colours, and a 25-player squad is drafted for you. The Season tab shows this week's match. Tap it to see the preview, the pitch and the forecast, then Toss and play.
During a match, step through a ball or an over at a time, let it run on Auto at the speed you like, or Sim to end for the result. Scorecard shows the full card and both teams at any point.
What do the skill badges mean?
Each player has five skills: batting, aggression, bowling, economy and fielding. They run from ba (bad) through po, av, go and gr to su (superb). The number before a name is his place in the batting order.
How do I pick the team and tactics?
Open the Orders tab. There are separate orders for Tests and one-day matches: the XI and batting order, the keeper, who opens the bowling and who bowls after, how aggressively to bat and field, and when to declare.
How does training work?
Every match earns training points, with a bonus for a win. On the Squad tab, tap a player and give him up to 8 points across his skills, then apply. Young players learn quickly; veterans slowly. At the end of the season everyone is a year older, and some of the old hands retire.
How is the season organised?
Fourteen weeks. Each week your club plays a Championship Test and a One-Day Cup match against the same opponent. After week 14 the Cup's top four play a knockout Tournament. Then a new season starts with a new calendar.
Your save
Where is my club saved?
On your iPhone only. The game saves after every match and every change. There is no online account, so there is nothing to sign in to and the game works without a connection.
Will I lose my club if I change phones?
Your club travels with your iPhone backup. If you set up a new iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup of the old one, the game comes across with it. If you delete the app, the club is deleted too.
How do I start again?
Open Settings (the gear at the top right). Delete this club erases it. You can also go to the title screen and choose Start a new club; this replaces the club you have.
Something wrong?
The screen looks too large or runs off the edge
Long Hop is laid out for iPhone in portrait. If text looks oversized, check Settings › Display & Brightness › Display Zoom on your iPhone, then reopen the app.
Which version do I have?
The version number is at the top of the app's Settings sheet, with a list of what is new in each release. Please include it when you report a problem.
